Game FUNdaMentals

Instructions for Operating the

Frisbee Ring Toss Game

 1.            Setup.  The  peg board is set up in the center of a square roped off area.  The distance from the edge of the board to the rope should be about six feet..  The colored pegs are inserted in their matching color receptacles on the board.  The operator stands within the roped off area.  The players stand outside the roped off area*.

2.            The Game.

a)            Players may throw from any point outside the roped off area*. *(Exception:  Small children may be permitted into the roped-off area as appropriate to enhance their experience.  Other players should refrain from throwing if they might hit the small child.)

b)            Players each receive six same-colored Frisbee rings per turn.

c)            All four players are permitted to throw at the same time.

d)            Wait until all four players have thrown all six Frisbees before picking them up.  Pick up one color at a time.  Add up their score as you pick up the Frisbee rings. Ringing a white peg is worth one point, green = two points, yellow = three points and red = five points.

e)            Keep a record of who has the highest score.  (The highest possible score is 30.)

f)             Pass the Frisbee rings out to the next players in line after all scores are tallied.

g)            After each player completes a turn they may play again by going to the end of the line.

3.            Stray Frisbees.  Occasionally a Frisbee ring will go well out of the roped-off area.  Encourage players and bystanders to retrieve them for you, but KEEP YOUR EYE ON THEM AT ALL TIMES, AS THEY WILL LIKELY TOSS THE FRISBEE RING TO (AT) YOU!  Although the rings are light weight, they do smart if they hit you in the face.

4.            Helpers.  Children will often ask if they can help you.  If the child seems responsible, and is able to follow instructions, it is okay to allow them to help.  Be certain that they know and follow all the rules.  If they do not, you must ask them to stop helping and leave the roped off area.

5.            Breaks.  If there is a roaming game assistant or game manager, they should relieve you once every 1-1/2 to 2 hours for breaks.  If not, you may put away the rings and shut the game down for a short break.  It is okay to drink water or other non-alcoholic beverages while you are assisting the game so long as it does not interfere with keeping the game going.  It is not okay to smoke or eat or to drink alcoholic beverages while you are assisting the game.  It is not okay to smoke within view of any children.   It is not okay to drink alcoholic beverages within 2 hours before or during the time you are scheduled to assist children’s games, or to have previously consumed alcohol or drugs to the extent that it impairs your ability to participate fully in the operation of the game.
