Instructions
for Operating the
Ski Race Game
1.
Setup.
a)
In an open area lay two parallel ropes or
draw two parallel lines 50 feet apart.
b)
Lay out the “skis” in pairs with the tips
near the first rope or line, pointing toward the
second rope or line,
c)
Disburse the ski holding ropes somewhat
evenly over the four standing areas.
2.
Announcing the game.
a)
Begin announcing the ski race ½ hour
before it occurs to help build up enthusiasm and
participation. Announcement should be “You have
½ hour to choose three partners for the ski race
game, which will be held (define location) at
(time).” Announce it again 15 minutes before,
then 5 minutes before, then at the time.

Read The Rules.
a)
“Only teams of four may play. Players
may be any age.”
b)
“All players must stand on the skis at
all times while making forward progress.”
c)
“You may only touch the skis with the
bottoms of your feet.”
d)
“The ropes are used to hold the skis onto
your feet. Your hands may touch the ropes, but
not the skis, for the entire race. Anyone who
touches the skis with their hands will
disqualify their team.”
e)
“The first team to reach the finish line
without cheating wins the game.”
f)
“The announcer will be the sole judge of
what constitutes cheating. There is no appeal
process.”
4.
The Race.
a)
When everyone seems ready, announce
“Ready, set, ski”.
b)
Watch for cheating.
5.
Playoffs
a)
If there are two or three races, have a
playoff race for the winners of the first two or
three races. If there are four races, have two
playoffs of two teams, then a playoff of those
winners. If there are five races, have one
playoff of three, one playoff of two, then a
playoff of the winners – etc. |
